One Quick Stress Reduction Tip to Help You Eat Less

What do you think the correlation is between stress and overeating? It’s HUGE! This isn’t universal, since I know many people overeat because of boredom (if that’s you, you need to read the tip in my book Stop Overeating Today! called Food is Not Your Friend). However, there are many people out there who overeat because of anxiety and stress. Here’s a quick tip to help you reduce your stress that will allow you to make healthier eating choices that are not stress induced.

Ready? I want you right now to try to empty your mind and just focus on your breathing. If you are like most people, you are probably taking shallow breaths from your chest. Am I right?

Instead of these shallow chest breaths, I want you to breathe from your belly. These breaths are longer and deeper. They help your body relax instantly and help put your mind at ease. 1…..2…..3…..belly breaths. Next time you feel like overeating, try three belly breaths and see if that doesn’t help you think a little more clearly.
